The birthday walk

At Tommy's school, they have a very sweet ceremony for kids' birthdays. The teacher lights a candle to represent the sun, and then the kid walks a globe around the sun to symbolize each year of his life. After each walk, the child shows a photo of themselves at the age to the rest of his classmates. Tommy did the birthday walk on Thursday because it was the last day of the term. (He is celebrating his birthday in America and most people in London who have run into him in the past couple of weeks are aware of this fact.)

This is Tommy and his friend Daisy before his birthday walk.

Showing everybody his baby picture.

Walking the globe around the sun.

Talking with Miss Karina about what he could do when he was one.
